I fell in love with this Tracy Reese Pegged Skirt today. I found it at Neiman Marcus Last Call and couldn't afford it even with my 40% off coupon.
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a high-waisted skirt. It just doesn't seem that way on the model. This skirt fit me perfectly and would be super cute with tights and black booties for fall.
Tracy Reese Pegged Skirt, Willow St. Boutique, $202.
Okay, so it might be hard for be to track down a horse or pull off a cape(let), but I'm loving this Easy Keeper Skirt from Anthropologie.
Layered tartan tiers + tulip hem = :)

One of my long-time favorite blogs - I've been following this one for over 3 years - Made by Girl just featured Honey Pie Design.
I enamored with these adorable pillows.
Added bonus: Honey Pie uses recycled felt.
Buy your own at Honey Pie Design's Etsy store. Which one's your favorite?
I need to post about Made by Girl some time. She's amazing and I've had a hard time deciding what to post.
After posting an iPhone picture of the Lincoln Memorial on Facebook, my friend Fran excitedly replied that he, too, would be in DC for a wedding that weekend. Yay!
We decided to meet up for brunch in morning. After a little bit of Yelping and looking over a list of things to eat from my friend Carole, we decided on Kafe Leopold in Georgetown.
Boy were we glad we chose Leopold's. There I had the most amazing almond croissant I've had in my life. It wasn't flaky like La Boite (my now second favorite almond croissant). Instead it was dense, moist, and somewhat sticky. Lil Phan got 2 more for the road.

With so many choices, lil Phan had a hard time deciding. I think she's using her phone to look up some of the menu choices. She seems terrified of making the wrong decision.
She ended up going with this:
I had lemon souffle pancakes.
At some point, I got greedy and started stealing other people's food. I mean tasting other people's food.
Look at the bakery case. Drool.
Yay Fran and Yay brunch.
I'm not sure why the redhead's smile is so forced.
The redhead found Everyone Knows You're A Fraud for me on This Isn't Happiness.
Discouraging Letter is an oil painting by Canadian Artist Brad Phillps.
I love it.
I discovered Creative, Inc. at my favorite bookstore, BookPeople. Little did I know it was written by none other than two of my favorite writers/designers, Joy Deangdeelert Cho of Oh Joy!, and Meg Mateo Ilasco. See Joy's post about the book and her tour on her blog - yes, some of her favorite bloggers have written about the book and some behind the scenes action.
I finished Creative, Inc. last Friday and this book is a MUST READ for anyone who is considering freelancing as a profession or anyone who wants to start a creative business. Simply put - it's been incredibly inspiring for me. Challenging me and making me really think about what I want to do in life. It's reminded me of when I was studying Creative Advertising and has pushed me to inspire others while actively making time to spend with other creative people. I've been talking to my favorite copywriter (who I met in creative advertising), Colin Walsh, a lot more lately. And, of course, I've been talking to fabulous photographer Aimee Wenske. I've made her buy Creative, Inc. as well.
Something magical happens when the right creative people are in a room together. The gears in my head are turning...
Creative, Inc. offers advice to creatives on how to get everything together - how to turn talent and passion into a successful business. Joy and Meg feature interviews from dozens of creative people - artists, illustrators, stylists, graphic designers, videographers, photographers, etc. - who have "made it" as freelancers. Topics include how to get started, budgets, invoices, partnering, and agents.
In addition to the blog tour, they are doing a Creative, Inc. book tour. I wish I were lucky enough to be in one of those cities.
Creative, Inc. will be one of my favorite reference books from here on out. Major win for creativity.
Did I ever tell you about the time I came this close to going to school for a Masters degree in Creative Advertising?

May I have this cake for my next birthday?
This is more of a Prismacolor cake than simply a rainbow cake. I love it.
Now, I'm wondering how long it took to color, bake, and assemble.
Thank you to Oh Happy Day! for posting such wonderful celebrations. She found it on Snippet & Ink
OMG. This is for real.
Vegetarian Noodle Bowl Halloween Costume, Not the Kitchen Sink on Etsy, $60
This is the cutest, most inventive children's food costume I've seen this year. Thanks Not the Kitchen Sink for making my day, and quite possibly, my Halloween.
By now, everyone has seen sushi babies. Vegetarian noodle bowl toddlers? Not so much.
If you've been following my blog for a while, you'd know that I'm a huge fan of food costumes. I was once a s'more and I once made the redhead dress up as bubble tea. He was a huge hit with the Asian immigrant crowd that year.
Look at how angry that kid is. I'm pretty sure he hates his crafty mom. He definitely seems to hate her fabulous costumes.
See below.
Smile for me, pretty please with a cherry on top? Nope.
Rainbow Sprinkles Cupcake Costume, Not the Kitchen Sink on Etsy, $50
I think nigiri baby is a different baby altogether.
Also, not very happy. The wasabi, ginger, and plastic grass headband is making kathyphantastic happy, though.

Look at what I found on Black*Eiffel! Can I keep it?
I love how it's made with hot pink crepe paper and coffee filters. The ruffles bring an elegance usually not found with fringy tissue paper.
I would fill this baby with ice cream flavored candy and mini ice cream shaped erasers.
What do you like to fill your pinatas with?
Living fairly close to several of Austin's pinata stores - YES there are pinata stores here - I might never make one of these ice cream cone pinatas. However, if you'd like to have a try, check Simply Modern Mom's tutorial.
